HISTORY:

The Midnight Novelty Co. operated so quietly that most people have never heard of them.

Unlike the major novelty outfits that advertised everywhere, this company placed only a handful of ads across the few years they were in business. They appeared in obscure publications: short-lived horror magazines, regional comics with tiny print runs, underground fanzines that barely circulated. Most collectors could spend years without ever encountering one.

The few ads that survived were oddly specific yet mysteriously vague. Expensive products with hand-drawn illustrations and cryptic copy that read more like forbidden texts than marketing, all shipped from a mysterious Connecticut post office box.

In 1964, the company vanished without a trace. No final advertisements, no forwarding address, no explanation. They'd operated so quietly that their disappearance went largely unnoticed except by the handful of collectors who'd encountered their mysterious ads.

Most people assumed Midnight Novelty was just another mail-order scam that took children's money and delivered nothing. But scattered reports suggested otherwise: whispered stories from the few customers who actually received their orders, claiming the items worked exactly as promised in ways that shouldn't have been possible.

This amulet validates every whispered claim.

EFFECT:

Every adult carries within them the ghost of a child who once believed that magic was real. Who stared at those impossible advertisements in comic books and dreamed of ordering genuine mysteries through the mail. X-ray glasses that could see through walls. Hypno-Coins that commanded obedience. Sea monkeys that looked like tiny underwater royalty. We saved our allowances. We filled out order forms with trembling hands. We waited six to eight weeks, hearts pounding with possibility.

And then the packages arrived. Plastic glasses that revealed nothing. Cheap metal discs that hypnotized no one. Brine shrimp that looked like brine shrimp. One by one, these corporations sold our innocence back to us for a dollar or two plus shipping.

But what if one company had actually told the truth?

You introduce a cryptic old advertisement along with the mysterious artifact it promised: a slumbering pharoah with closed eyes, weathered by decades of eager hands. Your spectator studies both items, examining the ancient ritual printed in aged ink. The advertisement makes bold claims about being cast from an original artifact in "Nile Silver Alloy," the kind of ridiculous marketing these companies were known for.

The advertisement vows something impossible will occur when the sacred words are spoken. No details, only the compelling promise that observers will witness something beyond explanation. Following the instructions precisely, they close their fist around the amulet and speak the mystical incantation.

When they slowly open their hand, the impossible stares back at them. The pharaoh's eyes are wide open, alert and knowing. They sit in stunned silence, examining the transformed amulet in disbelief. This isn't just a moment of wonder, it's healing something that was broken long ago. Proof that not every promise was empty.

For one perfect moment, magic is real again.

You’ve awakened their inner child.

ABOUT:

Inside the custom collector's box you'll find a hand-cast pewter pharaoh amulet with substantial weight and aged patina. A powerful convincer has been cast directly into the amulet, providing unconscious confirmation that the impossible actually occurred.

The vintage advertisement was hand-illustrated to match 1950s comic book advertisement styles, printed with real ink on an authentic press, and carefully aged to achieve the worn appearance of authenticity.

Also included is the special something that makes the impossible possible, along with a PDF performance manual that describes how to elevate the effect beyond just simple transformation. The real effect isn't about an amulet, it's about healing childhood disappointment and proving that magic was real all along.

Everything needed to perform this transformative effect is included. While not "self-working", it is easy to perform, and no sleight of hand is required.

Awaken is limited to 150 copies.
